So on a whim (well I have been wanting to and the opportunity arose) I took a trip to Havasupai with some friends and Ben, for Labor Day weekend 2007.
"What is Havasupai?" some of you might ask. Well it is an amazing river/canyon/adventure on an indian reservation in Arizona just south of the Grand Canyon. The only way in to this area is about an 11 hour drive followed by a 12 mile hike (backpacking) down into the canyon, past the indian village and on to the campground. Once you are there, by night you camp alongside the river and by day you hike up and down the canyon and play in the river and in many of the amazing waterfalls along they way.
It was a totally amazing place. I highly recommend it if you get the chance...I will say I was a little unprepared for the backpacking part, you start as early as you can in the morning to beat the heat and you are carrying everything you will have for the weekend on your back. I didn't really know what to expect, didn't know what to pack, but we got by.
There are four large waterfalls; Navajo Falls, Havasu Falls, Mooney Falls (see right), and Beaver Falls. The campgrounds are just past Navajo and Havasu Falls and we camped just above Mooney Falls. We were with a group of about 30 people so there was plenty of company on the day trips. It was a grand adventure and I am really glad Ben came with because he was a great adventure companion!
I will for sure have to do this trip again...but next time I might take the helicopter ride in ;)

Hey I got your blog off Amber's. Anyways Tom Morse, Heather's hubby, has wanted our family to do Havasupai. Belle came this year so it didn't work out. Hope everything is going good. Love, Hillary
Hey Natalie, Jake went to Havasupai for his senior trip. I have wanted to go there myself ever since. It looks like an amazing place.
