Birthday 29::Mexican Style

So I finally go to go on a tropical vacation. It was amazing! I went with 3 of my girlfriends (and 200 other of my closest LDS single friends) on a week-long cruise to Mexico. We had a lot of fun and adventures in our three ports; Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. Mexico is a blast!

The cruise actually lasted 7 days and we spent one day in each of the cities we visited, so there were 4 days "out to sea". We boarded the ship Sunday afternoon and got familiar with the ship. If you have never been on a cruise, they give you a set dinner time in the main dining room with assigned seats, so the first night we got to go to dinner and meet the "strangers" we would be dining with all week. Of course since we were in a big group we figured we would probably know the people we were sat with, and it turns out we did. The dinners were fun and we had two formal nights so it was great to see everyone in their "fancy" clothes. We had some fun guys friends who had some pretty special out fits for these occasions. The rest of our evenings on board consisted of playing cards, dancing into the early hours of the day in the "night club" and eating pizza and ice cream.

Once we hit Mexico it was non-stop adventure. In Puerto Vallarta we took a taxi ride up to the jungle to ride zip lines. This was a lot of fun and our "guides" were crazy. The zip line is set up at the location that the movie "Predator" was filmed so there was a "Predator" theme to our zip line experience. After the zip line we took another taxi ride back into the city to get some food. We ate at a little local cantina and had amazing guacamole, chips, salsa and tacos. I will just say right now that those are the only three things I ate in Mexico and they were always great.

Mazatlan the next day was fun of a different sort. We hooked up with a group of boys my friend affectionately named "the man-cubs". These boys were 23-25 and tons of fun. They spoke Spanish so we let them take care of us for the day. We rented a doon-buggy, a rhino (suped up golf cart) and a jeep and took off for a crazy drive down the coast of Mazatlan to the El Cid resort. At the El Cid, I got my first boogie boarding lessons and lounged by the hotel pool.

Our last day in Mexico was in Cabo san Lucas and also my birthday. It was a lot of fun as well. When I left the room at 1 am the night before to get myself a birthday treat (they served ice cream 24/7) my friends decorated the room, so when I got back I had a birthday surprise. In Cabo we took a "glass bottom boat" out to the famous beach, Lover's Beach and played in the waves with a bunch of friends. After that we took another boat out on a whale watching adventure. This turned out to be a lot of fun. We saw about 4 whales, a group of dolphins, a shark and then on the way back in tons of seals! Then we hit up the main beach for some guac, chips and pina coladas (another staple of a tropical vacation). Then we were back on the boat and on our way home.
